Elements of Music
Explore the components of which which music is made: rhythm, melody, harmony.
Movement I: “Rhythm” begins with a simple quarter note pattern in the gock block, layering more complex patterns to the apex of the movement then returning to the simple quarter note gock at the end. Movement II: “Melody” combines the melodies of Panga Lingua and Simple Gifts into a beautiful and moving ballad. Movement III: “Harmony” begins with pyramiding chordal statements followed by a Bach chorale. Elements of Music culminates in the third movement by combining all three musical elements using Beethoven's Hymn to Joy as the source.
